What you'll do...

Job Summary:
Director of Data Science – Innovation, Last Mile Delivery role, focused exclusively on innovation and advanced/autonomous delivery technologies: you will drive the exploration, evaluation, and implementation of advanced and autonomous delivery technologies. In this innovation-focused role, you will identify industry trends, assess feasibility and suitability for Walmart, and define the customer value proposition for emerging delivery solutions. You will partner cross-functionally to pilot, iterate, and scale innovative technologies that shape the future of Walmart’s last mile network. What you’ll do:

• Set and execute the innovation strategy for advanced and autonomous delivery technologies within Last Mile Delivery.
• Continuously scan the industry for new delivery tech, including automation, robotics, and AI-driven solutions.
• Evaluate the suitability and feasibility of emerging technologies for Walmart’s network, focusing on customer value and operational impact.
• Define and articulate the customer value proposition for new delivery innovations.
• Partner cross-functionally with business, technology, and operations teams to pilot, iterate, and scale promising solutions.
• Lead a high-impact data science team dedicated to innovation in last mile delivery.
• Measure, analyze, and report on the effectiveness of pilots and scaled solutions, driving continuous improvement.

What you’ll bring:

• Proven leadership experience building and managing high-performing, innovation-focused data science teams.
• Deep expertise in advanced delivery technologies, automation, robotics, or AI, ideally in a large-scale or retail environment.
• Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive alignment across diverse teams.
• Advanced skills in data science, machine learning, and automation, with experience evaluating and deploying innovative solutions.
• Strategic, experimental mindset with a strong track record of delivering measurable results through innovation.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable business strategies.

The annual salary range for this position is $169,000.00 - $338,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
